At the risk of opening up a can of worms.....Illegal alien? I overheard my manager tell another employee...?


last night that as long as this person (employee's Mexican friend) has a social security number she could work here...she also said she doesn't care who's number it is as long as she could show she has one. I know for a fact that at least 8 other Mexican emps. are NOT LEGAL, and either working under "bought" socials or "borrowed" ones. I am NOT racist by any means, my son in law and grandaughter are Mexican, but as an American citizen...this OFFENDS the hell out of me! It is bad reguardless, illegal, immoral, etc. but some of these illegal employees are making it miserable at work. Customers are noticing the tension (racial) as well as other employees. Comments are being made of "this is going to be whites against Mexicans". I feel like they are breaking the law with stolen identities and causing a hostile workplace. Am I wrong for wanting to report them to Immigration? Why do I have to feel like this in my country? What would you do?

The hostile workplace thing happens a lot. The owner starts hiring more illegals as this allows him to save money and dodge taxes. The illegals start ganging up and the legals leave. Then the customers stop coming. It is not racist it just happens a lot.

Stolen socials do hurt people. Should the real owners of the numbers can have issues when claiming benefits, when having background checks for jobs done, credit issues or when filing taxes.

Somewhat related is my county passed some laws a while ago in regards to denying public services to illegals and harsher immigration enforcement. So most of the illegals have left and moved to neighboring counties. All of those other counties are passing the same laws now. Because to provide for schools and other public benefits would cost umpteen millions more for the illegal influx. The only way to pay for it would be to raise everybodies taxes....... hence the laws because the public made it clear that they were not going to put up with that.

The employer is not supposed to just ask for a social security number. An I-9 form is supposed to be kept on file for everybody. This requires two forms of ID. This means a picture ID, green card and a birth certificate.

If this comes out the owner is probably not going to be charged or lose his business the first time around. Whoever will probably come in and tell him that he needs to have completed I-9s on file.

So I say go ahead and report since this stuff at your work is going to just get worse. Call the county, state and the feds.

You have not only the right, but the duty as a citizen, to report flagrant lawbreaking. If it makes you feel better, when you contact ICE make sure to tell them the employer is knowingly hiring illegals - they should bust his *** too. Why should your son in law and granddaughter suffer from the stigma created by other people's crimes?

I'd report it. What the illegals are doing is illegal and what the employers are doing is illegal. They're not even paying taxes with their false documents...how could they be? Is that fair? I could go on and on but click the link in my source below. They'll tell you what to do.

Yeah, they are getting credit for all the extra wages earned that will be available to them when they retire.

Definitely call ICE. Even if you have nothing against illegals, the people whose SSNs the illegals are using are getting screwed over.

First of I just wanted to set you straight about your grand daughter she is not Mexican she is American. As American as you are. Next I understand where you are coming from in the sense of the law, but turning it into a race issue as in whites against Mexicans is racism. Have you thought about what would happen to your job if your work place is busted and the boss is implicated? At the end of this all you will do what you want and you are sounding a "bit" bias for the way you referenced your grand daughter, the child of your child.

You must report your employer to ICE. Call their hotline (see their website) and give them your company's name, the manager's name, the names being used by those you know to be illegal, and if you have a way of getting the info without being discovered, the SSNs they are using. Your boss is aiding and abetting illegal immigration, identity theft and tax fraud. How do you know she wouldn't sell or allow someone to steal your SSN when you leave? Act so that you have some hope of getting rid of those illegal aliens and the manager, too!

Be sure to call from home and keep your mouth shut at work or you might suffer retaliation even though it is illegal to retaliate against a whistleblower.

I worked at a restaurant in indiana
and I know of one employee who was good friends with the manager and he actually supplied the documents for them.
I completely understand what you are going through

It like, they are not bad people, but they are taking advantage of our tax dollars and abusing the system.

I met so many nice people and I still linger about whether or not something should be said.
Its just so easy for these people to comment about turning them in, but when you have to think about the mom who is illegal, but has legal kids being deported it just eats away at you. I say that as long as they are not criminals or bad people that we should just leave it up to our politicians (which also is like doing nothing) to handle what to do.
