How much more would you pay to know your work was not done by Illegal immigrants?

How much more would you pay to know your work was not done by Illegal immigrants?

How much more would you be willing to pay a contractor, a restaurant, landscaper, grocery store if they could guarantee that all of their employees and vendors were U.S. citizens or had legal immigration status?

Would this effect your decision at all?

Affect!
Sorry,
I thought we were exchanging ideas not having a Spelling Bee.

I don't think that they'd be that much difference. People who knowingly hire illegals are a greedy bunch, without a source of cheap labor they'll be priced out of business by competition from more honest businessmen and contractors.

As a kid I once had a summer job as a construction laborer. I was paid 8 dollar an hour, that was when the minimum wage was 3.35 an hour. Now days thanks to illegal immigration someone in Southern California starting out in construction as a laborer can expect to be paid...10 dollar an hour.

The minimum wage in California is now 8 dollars an hour. By the way you'll notice that the cost of housing is much higher now than it was in 1983.

EDIT: By the way I used to work in landscaping, a friend and I had an established route. We worked hard, did well, I LIKE working outdoors, don't mind the heat or physical exertion, keeps one in good shape.

Along came a Mexican with a crew of 4 people (all relatives) who offered to do the work for less. We charged 65 dollars a month for your typical suburban yard he charged 40. You know he wasn't paying his crew anything close to the minimum wage or provide insurance.

The only way people earning spit wages like that can afford to pay rent is to pack themselves into apartments and houses like sardines which accomplishes two things: Makes greedy slumlords who charge rent by the person rich, which also turns what used to be good neighborhoods into crime infested graffiti scrawled barrios. Also when these people and their kids get sick or injured they access the public health system resulting in higher medical costs and taxes for the rest of us.

Everyone is cheap, and wants cheap labor. I live in a border town and I've seen better and more honest work done by legal AND illegal immigrants than by high priced "American" contractors, workers etc. I say if they can do a better job, then let them do it. Maybe it will make some of those lazy, thieving, overweight "Americans" get off their butts and work a little harder.

People will SAY "of course I'm going to hire legal citizens to do my work" but when it comes down to it, the american buisness owner is on a budget more than ever, so who would they hire? A 30k a year american they need to pay taxes on or an illegla immigrants for half the cost under the table with no taxes?

I wouldn't pay a penny more. And no, this wouldn't Affect my decision. (check your spelling!)

The plain fact is that the illegal immigrant - read Mexicans - do jobs the lazy white Americans don't want to do. My condo association tried their best to hire a white grounds crew - no one wanted to mow lawns, trim hedges and trees in the hot summer, do snow and ice removal in the winter. A Mexican crew was hired, and we never had better looking grounds.

Now I live in an apartment. The janitor is a older Mexican man who cleans up people's trash, sweeping sidewalks, picking up beer bottles, candy wrappers, used condoms, etc., thrown on the grounds by white trash. There was no white American who would take the job.

I don't like non-citizens being accorded the same rights as citizens, but I'm fed up with ALL immigrants being tarred and feathered as bad,

None what so ever! Why do I have to pay more if US companies outsource work to China? Should I search for everything made in US too? It would be a difficult search - practically nothing is produced here! So corporations can search for cheaper labor (and it is legal - outsourcing ), but I have find more expensive ?

It should, but it probably wouldn't.

If I hire someone to do a job, I would make sure that he is a legal citizen, and I pay him. I would leave the responsibility of hiring legal workers to him.

LOL.

No more cheap chicken, you can be assured.

During WW II, fryers cost $1.39 lb.
Roasting hens, $0.89 lb. or so.

I wouldn't pay anymore and don't care if an illegal or legal resident/citizen does the job.

I think most Americans are far too cheap to pay what it would cost. That's why it so ironic that so many are anti-day worker program. They have no idea what they'd be in for.

Fair market price. Illegals are a black market(illegal).

no i wouldnt want a mexican doing it anyway

seis pesos

I would pay a lot more... if you don't belong here... don't like it her get the **** outta my country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Red,White and Blue DO NOT RUN TOGETHER!

I heart our illegal immigrants. they keep costs down.
