The problem with Immigration Issues is that All brat Congressman were born with a silver spoon in their mouth!

politics & Immigration Issues walk hand with hand, I dunno about Politics, but on Immigration issues the main problem is the greedy spoiled people who care only about money and hedomism, And don't care about other people !
People who never had been an Immigrant are trying to make/change/update laws for people that they consider inferior than them.! -They look at Immigration from the top to the bottom!
but... what about if they become undercover illegals and try to cross illegaly by land from Mexico, or by ocean from Cuba to the USA?

Although I think I agree with you about comprehensive reform and "smart" borders (however that may be defined) don't think that all legislators are spoiled brats. Many are self-made people... former farmers, ranchers, small businesspeople who have made themselves through business, or by going to law school, or simply by life experience.
Obama -- the son of foreign nationals himself.
The junior senator from Montana -- former farmer.
The junior senator from Virginia -- former enlisted military guy (I believe).

Sure, there are the Kennedys (but Ted Kennedy is one of the most adamant about progressive immigration reform) and the Gores (not a senator anymore, but his dad was...) and Corzine (senator from new jersey who threw millions of dollars of his own money in his campaign) (note I'm talking all about democrats here)... but there ar ea good amount of small-time people who made it big-time in politics. Just like you don't want all americans painting all immigrants with the same brush (they're criminal, smelly, refuse to learn english, etc), don't paint all politicians with the same brush either.

Actually, they do care about other people. They care about illegal immigrants. It's not feasible to deport them all. It is expensive to secure the border (but still needs to be done). This may be giving them amnesty, but they are only coming here for a better life, and better to them is still not on par with the average American life. Think about that before you criticize a complex issue and try to portray it as simple crooked politics.

I agree, congressman need to be in any undocumented Immigrant shoes to understand better about the global phenomenon of Immigration and Emigration.
