I was contacted by an immigration consultancy agency in Canada.?

My question is how reliable and fair in charge agencies are in Canada? I was called twice by their customer care officer and as asian and never been abroad I don't know what to say about this.

I was a Settlement counsellor In Toronto last year before I moved here In UK last Sept. My question is... why do you need an Immigration Consultant? If its for applying for residential status.... I suggest to to it yourself since it's a very straight forward application... all you need to know is at the CIC website.... http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html
the reason I am telling you to do this is because what they're going to do for you, will simply filling up your application forms which you can download from the said website or fill it up online and send your fee to them..... the agency will have to ask you for documents which you will provide to go with the application which you could have done it yourself. Cheaper to do it by yourself... any appllications concerning immigration is available on the CIC website. The only time you need an immigration consultant is when you're already within Canada and have an appeal about your status (refugee claimant status) even for humanitarian compassionat grounds-you don't need immigration consultant... you can go to any Settlement Agencies and they will direct you, help you do all the necessary steps for free. If you wish to speak to a settlement counsellor who would be able to answer your questions in regards Canadian Immigration, go to http://www.settlement.org/index.asp or google settlement agencies in Canada and it will bring you the agencies all over the country.

if you have nothing to hide, dont worry about.
