What do you think about the immigration contreversy in America?

I live in California and there was a protest in our town plaza the other day.

I think we should dig a canal on the mexican american border, use the dirt we dig up to build the banks up around new orleans, then when the canals on the border fill with water, move all them dang alligators attacking humans in florida and put them in it. we would solve three problems at once. He** I think I should run for president. I dont inhale.

Should have rounded them all up and deported them to Canada. Let them deal with it for a while.

I love controversy . I don`t know why your country let it get to this point . For the above comment , they won`t come to Canada because we will deport them and it`s too cold for them too.

I think the US should figure on a way to give the ones here now citizenship or if they don't want it they go home. Then stop the flow of illegals coming over. Legal immigration is fine.

I think if you are here LEGALLY than great, more power to you, and I hope you fulfill your dreams.
But...
If you are here illegally, you have no rights to anything American as you are not one. The right to Protest is an American granted right, not an immigrant right. We as Americans cannot go into Mexico, protest and expect to get off scott free, so why should we allow criminals to take advantage of our constitution.

The problem I have with the illegal immigrants that are coming in (let's be honest mostly Mexicans) is that they do not want to be American. The Mexicans come here to find jobs to send money back to their families (most of them) and have no intention in learning our culture, values, or even language. I myself am of Mexican heritage and when my ancestors came they came to find a better life as Americans. They learned the culture, the language and obeyed the law. It seems like the one's that come today do not want to be Americans but more turn it into a second Mexico.

Did you know that Mexico is losing more people to illegal immigration than death? Its true.

What do I think? They need to go back. Most people have come to this country legally. They were patient, waited, paid the "price" and deserve to immigrate here legally.

Illegals are a pestering problem that won't go away and will get worse over time.

I think that immigrants should come to this country legally and work towards their citizenship.

Immigration should of been at the protests with buses to arrest and deport the illegals.

I think it is an issue that cannot be solved. We cannot keep out the main immigrants that the controversy is about. Mexicans. I have met many of them. They are hard working people.
I think we spend WAY to much money trying to keep them out and instead should let them in and tax their wages to pay for the public things that they use. (and not the war in Iraq) other issue...
If it was easier for them to acquire work VISA's then we could regulate the border the right way. They pay upwards of $1000 to cross the border. I knew one that walked for a 2 days and one that walked for 1 week straight. They get here. Fence or no fence.
The job thing... well, if you ate fruit today, an immigrant probably picked it for you. If a person from this country wants to work, go pick it! And really, the unemployment rate is pretty stable. We have evolved into a county with more and more jobs not requiring labor which is where the immigrants come in.
I think it is more about being prejudice towards someone that speaks a different language and looks a little brown.
Now if they came here and then sucked our country of welfare and government health benefits, etc. I would have a problem.

On one hand I think at some point the USA will have to stop immigration due to there will come a time when there is just not enough room. As for the current debate I think some of it has a basis in racism. I don't have any problem with immigrants particulary from Mexico. Mexicans have a long history in the states and are very much a part of our cultural heritage. I think there should be more of a focus on the minority of drug and gun runners and other people who come not to work but commit violent crimes. Focus on the trouble makers not the hard working laborers just trying to feed their families.
Good luck finding workers to build that fence:)
