IF a man and his wife where married 6 years had payed their bills never bothered anyone?

she came to the usa illegal because she had no place to live and the husband could not rent two homes and pay all the bills for both places, she could not get a new birth certificate at the time in order to file with immigration to start the immigration process, so she had to come to live with her husband until all documents where available to her, should they have to then be ordered by the immigration service to live in different countrys apart for 2 to 3 years as long as immigration knows where she is what could it help to keep them apart at that point,if you take away 2 or 3 years of someones life how have you made them a better person if they could not help the problem at the time ,why would the U.S government distroy the future of the two peoples marrage to keep them apart helps nothing ,we as a country boast of humanity and help for all man kind , this dirty little game immigration plays is not about law,its about human control,i dont feel all cases are the same, whats your thought

Remember we are talking about husband and wife, not imported workers, one is american and one is latin, please be nice in your reply, for we all require a amount of respect from each other.

any foreigner who marries an American automatically gets a green card. the fault might have been in the way you approached the situaltion. if you are American they cannot deport your wife even if she entered illegally.

Edited in response to your last statement: It does not matter if he was an illegal worker in a foreign country. If he is a citizen of America, whomever he marries is supposed to receive a green card. It is the law. Check this link, it will be more helpful than I.

Talk to an immigration attorney.

And I quote..."She came to the USA illegal...."

Who is breaking the law here?

This is what immigration calls as "sentencing for 2 to 3 yrs back to your country" after this time then INS will give her or him temp. status and this individual should be able to come back to the US. It's not fair but INS has never been fair. The bad thing is does this person have family they can stay with in their country until INS grants them asylum to come back? Sorry.

Are you suggesting that we ignore the law when it becomes inconvenient? I should hope not. The laws may not be perfect but if she broke the law she should have been deported. I understand that it is not good for thier relationship, but they made the choice to break the law. The woman should have stayed in her own country until all the necessary paperwork was obtained and completed. Instead she took a short cut and now she has to pay the piper.

Come on, friend. The government's involvement in the illegal immigration problem is not about forbidding Lucy and Desi Arnaz from living in America. It is about sorting out the illegal immigrants who have ALSO come over the borders to do America harm...or at the very least, to commit violent crimes...from the Lucy's and Desi's. We know that terrorists are getting Mexican IDs and learning to speak Spanish and coming over the border with real Mexicans (and also Canada I might add). Since the government has NO WAY of knowing who is here innocently and who is not, they have to look at everybody. And, yes, it does put Lucy and Desi at risk of being separated...at least for awhile.

What you are saying is that you feel that two people who keep to themselves and pay their bills should be allowed to break the law.

Sorry, but things don't work that way.

We are talking about two people one who left his wife to work in another nation without worry about his wife and how she could enter the nation.

He could have stayed with her and not broken the laws.

I can justify any law breaker, I can explain why someone stole a car, or robbed a bank, it just does not make it moral or legal
