Your rights haven't been violated and Ben H and LayZee Nerd make good points; but what the British have lost is the right to be heard and respected by thier politicians who are far more concerned with making thier mark on history than representing the people who were born here. I can understand how you feel though, I'm out of work now because I couldn't compete on price with a team of 5 twenty-something Poles living in a two bed house. With a mortgage and child maintenence to pay I need to earn at least 拢10per hr; they can afford to work for 拢3. But I don't blame the Poles - I'd do the same in thier shoes. If we want to live in a more equal world, rich nations like ours are just going to have to get a lot poorer. If we don't want equality then we're doomed to endless wars for "freedom and indpendence".

Our countries wealth - the nice old buildings you see were all built from our exploitation of other countries resources.

We owe a lot to a lot of people, and all of us come from immigrants - the UK was depopulated by the ice age.

Immigrants often work harder than we do, in worse conditions, live in worse areas and for terrible pay.

No they haven't, much to your dismay. The only way they would be violated is if there is concrete proof that your own rights have been violated. Such rights might be something as simple as access to quality care and the like. If there isn't and this is because you have a problem with the immigrants coming in here, then your human rights haven't been violated at all unfortunately. It sounds like you just don't want any immigrants around you, but I could be wrong. :\

officaly tony blair isn.t violating yuor human rights.but i can understand how you feel being british my self my view is that he is because there are so many immigrants in this country it makes me feel like he is violating our human writes because its our country and if you want to get on the houseing list or get any type of benifit of the goverment then you have to change yuor name to patel or mohammed and become an islamic terroist just to get benifits if you need them .

I have had the privelege of working throughout Europe, India, America and Africa and, in my humble opinion, Western European/American workers have the worst attitude on the planet. In January, I went to a plant in Poland who had asked for an increase in their budget for additional heating as it was -10 in the factory. THEY WERE STILL WORKING AT FULL TILT!! I came back to a strike in Britain because the management team had sacked two workers who they had found out to be having a lie-in and getting their mates to clock them on. Bear in mind that the cost of the UK worker is almost 10 times that of his Polish equivalent (even cheaper in India & China). The truth is we have become fat and lazy in the West and we moan at our governments because they try to protect us.

I think the only way your rights could be violated, from a moral point of view is where you have been discriminated against because a job has been "reserved" for a member of an ethnic minority because it can be shown that a minority of this specific class of people are under represented in a particular profession.

It is what the gooders call "positive discrimination"

I am of the view that unless there is a genuine occupational qualification (GOQ) for this then it is wrong. Everyone should be given the chance to apply for a job, with an equal chance of getting it. There is nothing positive about discrimination.

There was a recent case on the south coast (UK) where a white English boy applied for a job in a museum. It is something he had always wanted to do. His application was refused on the grounds that the local council wanted to employ someone from the ethnic minorities because they were under represented in this area of employment. Understandably the youngster was very unhappy about this.

This is an example where human rights law has let an individual down because he should have had an equal right to apply for the job.

Unfortunately the law said otherwise in this case.

This is where racial tension is caused by the very law that is supposed to protect people.

This is the only type of instance where I can see an issue.
