Let me try this again.? |
What does it say when in America abortions have been legal for 30 years but a cure for addiciton such as Ibogaine is illegal? Do you realize abortions were just legalized in Mexico a few weeks ago. There inlies alot of answers to alot of immigration questions. Imagine what the U.S. would be today? How many unwanted fetuses would have be saved if the option to cure an addict with one dose was as available as abortions are. Who knows how many years Ibogaine has been legal and readily available in Mexico. Its funny, hasnt the immigration rage been going just about 30 years? Its overwhelming to think of. Has anyone purchased Salvia(Ibogaines ugly step sister) in your local head shop yet? i don't really see the connection between ibogaine and abortion. ibogaine is illegal because it's a powerful, long-acting hallucinogen and has undetermined effects on the body. there are treatments for addiction withdrawal -- such as methadone -- which dont' have the hallucinogenic side effects. thus, just like all other powerful hallucinogens, it's illegal in the US. It's a good question, but basically, it was lumped in with LSD and Psilocybin in the hysteria of the 60's counterculture backlash. The government claimed they knew nothing of it's addiction-interrupter abilities, but this is highly suspect. It's more likely they saw a massive problem regarding it's impact on the pharmaceutical industry with it's inherent hallucinogenic properties being directly in opposition to mainstream practices, as well as it's non-habit forming nature, unlike Methadone. It was then being researched as a tool for psychotherapy much like LSD. And no, it is not available for purchase in Mexican drugstores, but there are several clinics in Mexico where you can find treatment. see www.ibeginagain.com It is recognized there as a nutritional supplement and has always been legal. By the way, it is very different from Salvia Divinorum in my experience, though both exhibit spirit natures. |
