Do i have to pay lawyers fees for his mistake???

My lawye said i had to go to Pitsburgh for an appointment at the immigration officei went but the lawyer failed to make the appointment and he then charged me 4.5 hours at 150 dollars per hour.

No lawyer with integrity would ask you to pay under such circumstances.

Has he admitted fault?

I would invite him to ask the State Bar or the local bar association whether it is fair to charge under such circumstances, and agree to abide by their opinion.

The reason I say this is that such a proposal is fair on its face, and for him to refuse puts him in a bad light, as well as suggesting that if he doesn't, you'll complain to them anyway. This way you are suggesting mediation, a step below arbitration, and one that often works in one of two ways: tactfully pointing out to one party that his/her position is untenable or splitting the difference.

It does not pay to get into a direct confrontation over fees unless you have to. Unless you have a flat-fee agreement he can sabotage your case or cause you added expenses in subtle ways.

Somehow most lawyers seem to think they have a God-given vested right to every fee they can plausibly demand. Just because they passed a bar exam once. And regardless of competence or accuracy.

He may be charging you for work done before the appointment. Curious I am to know how your appointment went without your buffoon of a lawyer.

Charging for something you havn't provided is Fraud, So they would be in big trouble if they try and make you pay!

Doesn't sound right.
Try to work it out with him, or file a grievance with the bar association, and request a formal investigation

How it could be? It is difficult to say so. For instance if a coatch takes penality with a sudden conscious then how he could divert the already made decission?

I don't know about USA, but in the UK any lawyers bill can be challenged the process is caused taxation in the UK, if the sum is not reasonable it can be reduce or negated.
