Aliens !!!?

Why does immigration offices keep using this ugly word?
All immigrants are offended by this.
Isn't it the time to give up this word?

Amen Sister. PEOPLE, STOP CALLING IMMIGRANTS ALIENS! They're not aliens, they're people, just like you and me. Right? Can I hear an AMEN!?!?

Why would they say that? Sometimes I don't understand this country.

well i do agree . but i don't think there is anything we can do . we don't have to use that word but we can't stop other ppl from using it .

It is a legal term having to do with citizens and residents of a different country. Applying the term to little green men came later.

The insult isn't in the word but in the way it is being internalized.

They're using this word cause that's what they are. The definition of an alien is someone or something from a different place.

Legal immigrants shouldn't be called aliens; but as far as the illegals. Who cares? They broke the law, right?

It's a "term of art" in legal parlance. The term itself is neutral; not ugly. The way it gets used in the media adds a gloss that's outside of the legal realm.

There are other version of the term used in the law such as "freedom to alienate property" or the good old "alienation of affection."

The use of the word 'Alien' to mean foreign national is entirely correct. It is, in fact, the proper use of the word.

You understand 'Alien' primarily to mean 'extra-terrestrial' but this is only a relatively new meaning.

If you want to complain at anybody; complain at people who use 'Alien' in a derogatory sense; it is this that truly undermines the inoffensive nature of the word.

that's what i would call aliens. not people from another country....the are called immigrants,from other countries.a lot of this happened back in history, by boat loads. my grandfather sponsored a doctor and his wife that had fled Germany , they were from Vienna.,and made their way to England. since our little town did not have a doctor. He sponored the couple.
yes i too think the word Aliens are wrong unless we are talking about life from other planets........yes you are called immigrants. just remember your not form another planet, and you can use that....lol smile god loves you.
