What are the pros to the proposed amnesty bill?

I'm not interested in what everyone has against it, I can assure you that I will agree with most, if not all of your answers there. To me, it seems to be both a slap in the face to the many people who are looking to lawfully gain entry into our country and a reward for those who decided that our immigration laws simply don't apply to them. Thanks!

Alot of people in this country seem to equate illegal immigrants with criminals. I would guess that 99% of these people come to this country to work because wages and the quality of life are so much better than back in their home countries. Had they applied through the regular process, they probably wouldn't have received anything for over 10 years and for many people, their family's wellbeing outweighs the risk of dying while crossing a border. For the sake of many that have been in this country for many years, it's time to give them a break and allow them a chance to assimilate into society and become good tax-paying citizens.

The pros? The best thing is that we'll finally switch to a point system so that we can bring in the immigrants that will really help this country, instead of bringing 20 members of the same family, some of whom might not have any education or know how to speak English, just because one of their relatives happened to marry a US citizen and therefore became one.

Some more pros: Well look at the fact that you get 12 million people who are now officially required to pay taxes like everyone else, instead of keeping them in the shadows, not knowing who's paying and who's just mooching off the system. Secondly, you get some good enforcement that will have to be in place before they can start having a chance to get a green card. That sounds pretty good to me. If you think congress is dying to give these people amnesty, then knowing that it won't come before enforcement should give you some comfort that enforcement is at least being taken seriously this time. Employers will HAVE to check all the SS #s that their employees use and that's a good thing. Now that they're legal, you won't have to worry about them taking the jobs out from citizens because they get paid less because now they'll be demanding the same as everyone and whoever is best for the job will get it. Not to mention there won't be any exploitation on the part of the employers.

Most of these guys will be able to get legal driver's licenses with insurance and you can be happy to know that the person who hits you on the freeway is insured, won't you be?

Some of them, primarily the younger ones, will continue their education and probably go on to college to get good degrees that will help this country. You don't think that's a good thing.

You're not rewarding criminals here, you're rewarding desperate people, and there's really nothing wrong with that. We're a compassionate country, and we always claimed to be, so why should we be so coldhearted with these people?

Overall, this bill may not be perfect, but it's much better than what's on the books and I'm all for it. Good compromise between both sides.

congress will get 2 trillion dollars to blow on projects that they can tie into this bill.

The only pro I want is for the illegal immigrants go back where they came from and enter the U.S.A. legally.

The only pro is that it is expedient and our congress is lazy but, that's dems for ya.

this bill is amnesty. it is a shameless attempt to get votes from the mexican immigrants. and if you favor putting a fence up to keep them from breaking our laws, they call you a racist. political correctness will eventually desroy this country.
