Unemployment benefits right before starting job?

I've been trying to apply for unemployment since 2nd week of September. After several attempts and stupid phone interviews, they finally ensure me that I was eligible to receive my check for September 24- November 7.

Good enough, in the middle of all this I was able to secure a decent job that paid us on a monthly basis. I was like, that's cool i'll at least be able to get some money from unemployment to pay off most of my bills for this month then i'm good. Then when they get their next letter I can tell them I got a job so no harm done. Now when I got home I received a letter for another phone interview. Their reason was their office did not receive documents establishing my immigration status. I got a little pissed off cause I know for a fact they're just postponing my check.

I honestly don't know what to think of all this. I guess if somebody can tell me that's just the way it really is I guess I can deal with it, but for now i'm really confuse
