I'm applying for a student visa to the USA, when i was 19 i was caught smoking pot with friends in Canada.

The cops searched our vehicle, and then they let us leave. Will he put this on a record that US immigration can see.. which might affect my student visa?? thanks.

you should be fine. If they logged anything on you, you would have signed something like a ticket. They wont list comments of previous incidents if it isnt reported.

If you were not arrested charged or fined it will not be on record anywere so dont worry. Just apply but dont mention it. If you do they will assume that you were charged.
hey didnt take your name or contact your parents so it should not have been recorded. Unless you were cautioned.... If you were cautioned then it may be on file.
You can check by paying for a back ground check on yourself... it will show up if theres a problem...
