Green Card Apply based on Marriage after enter to the US with Visitor's visa? |
We're planning to get married after we have seen for each other for 4 years. We met first in CA when I worked there and he was a full-time university student. We lived together for 1 year and engaged, but, I had to be back to Tokyo by the reason of my job and we were forced into a long distance relationship until now. At this time, I'm coming to his place with visitor's visa and then get married / apply for Green Card afterward as we're planning. We contacted with some immigration lawyers who are experienced in handling many similar case as ours before, but their comments varied. One said it takes 4-6 months and the other said it all depends on which state we're in. We're living in NV and most of the lawyers we talked to work in CA because I can't find out any lawyers in our neighborhood who are experienced in handling Japanese-American marriage case like us.Are there anypeople experienced in getting Green Card based on marriage after your spouse or you entered with visitor's visa? We are in the middle of submitting all the docs ourselves, no attorneys. When we need assistance or have questions, we go online and make an appointment to see/speak with an immigration officer for free. Sometimes its better to ask for forgiveness than it is permission LOL hire an experienced immigration lawyer, if you live in or near san francisco hire joseph waxman, he is the best. |
