Humans are territorial creatures. So are we being unrealistic by expecting integration?

What are the politicians motives behind mass immigration?It seems to me that especially in the u.s. that most people are against the mexicans coming through the border.So my point is...Why do the governments allow this to be if it is obviously causing so much unrest. I thought that politicians (through democracy and the elective process)were the mouthpiece of the public! so whats going wrong?

If the US allowed free trade with its American neighbours, wealth would be shared out more evenly, and migration across its boarders would cease. However without Mexicans to do the low paidwages - America would grind to a halt. You can not afford to shut your boarders, no body would clean your streets, mind you kids, or unblock the drains. Wake up and smell the roses - its the same in Europe. in 1996 it was Serbian refugees, who did the low paid work, then it was Kurdish now its Polish, next year it will be Romanian....

IMO: I often think the politics goes along with North American Supercontinent idea. WWIII is inevitable and we will need more people for homeland defense.

Mexico is sending their surplus uneducated poor to the USA
1. to prevent a revolution in Mexico where only one percent owns the country
2.to take back or regain the lost territories lost in the 1850's fly the Mexican flag.
3. investors and owners in the USA are becoming obscene rich from this overlap..
4.lost of the middle class will cause a greater gap in the haves-havenots...by the purchase of congress ....your senators and reps are brought and sold by the elite...this may lead to a military type government for the USA

Who said we're territorial? Ever been to a big city? A moose is territorial, people are more like ants. You're already building a wall, what more, shoot them? Politicians don"t "allow" it, it's a historical process that needs study instead of knee-jerk reactions.Until a solution is found, people need to lighten up and relax. The media isn't helping by whipping up emotions. It's not just an American problem, every developed nation is dealing with it. I think if we helped make poor countries better places to live the citizens wouldn't be so desperate to leave.

you can intergrate if you are similar. yanks could intergrate in britain, and aussies easy enough, but when ones way of life is so different and religeons I would not want to live anywhere that was too different like that.

If humans were, as you put it, "territorial", the only people in America would be the indigenous peoples as no-one else would have gone there.
