I have been asked by dwp to attend an interview at jobcentre.what is that all about?

i have been sent a letter by the jobcentre asking me to attend an inteview regarding a query that has arisen. i have never had one of these before. does anybody know what it is all about? my friend said that it has something to do with immigration but i am clueless??

i am not an immigrant and live on my own with my baby son. just a bit concerned as i have not had a letter like that before and honestly i was assuming it might have something to do with a cheque i recieved for payment from ebay!!!

my friend who is a single parent had one of these the other week, and it was just about her looking for work, which isnt possible at the moment, but they wanted to talk about child care options, and also talk about child maintenance, she isnt getting any of ex husband and they wanted to try and claim it for her, she gave all the details and 10mths later is still waiting to hear
i also got one, but when i phoned up, to find out more details, and told them about me claiming dla, they explained not a problem i had disable child
it could also be to check that you are claiming the right money
dont worry about it, if you havent done anything wrong, then you cant be accused for anything
my friend also gets regular payments from ebay, with no problems and never mentioned by dss (about 3 per mth)

phone them and ask

They should have checked your immigration status before they gave you an award. It could be about anything - not applying for enough jobs, proof of identity, maybe someone has mixed up their NI No with yours, almost anything. Best to turn up and see what its about. But make sure you are doing all you said you would do to find a job.

Loads are getting letters and forms. The interview will be about making you take any job whether you like it or not. The idea is that if you refuse, your benefits will stop.

its most probably to tell you to get a job why should it be to do with immigration uless your here without permision//you haven't given any details so one can only suppose

You can be called in for a number of reasons some being perfectly innocent and others not so innocent, these are:

* If you have a partner living with you and you have stated your live alone
* If you are working and claiming benefits
* If you have a partner working, while you are claiming benefits

Are you claiming any benefits? They could be updating your details if you are i.e. checking you haven't moved, had kids, got divorced etc etc etc.

Good luck with it :)

they might want to check up on how many jobs you have applied for to see if you are still eligible for benefits

your not working and claiming are you? Have you got a N.I. number? if you are an immigrant could be almost anything. more information needed. If you are not doing anything wrong you have nothing to be afraid of - could be just checking on your status.

Anyone who can work should work. Benefits are for those who cannot work for a genuine reason. If you can work and there is a suitable job available then I think you should take it. I know a lot of people say that it's not worth working as it affects their benefits but if everyone had that attitude then no-one would work.

The benefit section work hand in hand with Inland Revenue

so if there is money going into your bank account then perhaps it's that.

You won't be asked to work as you have a young child.

It really could be anything regarding your claim best attend the interview.

it could be anything from assessing your benefits to clarifying your status. The only way you will know for definite is by going

Don't worry too much, sometimes interviews happen every so often and they check if there are jobs available and have a chat. Just go to the interview.
