My wife told her employer she is pregnant and as soon after was told of being made redundant.? |
Thanks for the response. Has she been employed by the company on a full or part time basis for 6 months or longer. If so read below. Go to Citizen's Advice Bureau about this. It's illegal to sack someone for being pregnant, so the employer has to be able to prove they did everything right. If they made even one mistake, your wife can claim compensation. Happened to a colleague of mine. The stupid b*stard even emailed her telling her that because she was pregnant she's going to be made redundant. She took him to court and 18 months later, after many solicitor letters and at great emotional and financial cost to her, she lost and even had to pay his court costs! If she has been there under 12 months there is nothing you can do, if someone has been taken on to replace her then you should seek help, there are solicitors who give half hour free sessions |
