What's up with undocumented residency? how can we improve the system? |
is there a solution? or is the system adequate as it stands, and people just need to get a grip and follow the law? would an organized, fair system for immigration help? sometimes i wonder if we wouldn't be so tempted to cross the frontera if it weren't seen as an impossibility-don't we always want what we're told we can't have? (i.e., why did u climb that mountain? because it was there!).----is the system ok and we should get a grip, follow the law and stay put, or is the system part of the problem, or is it a little of both? (my friend entered here from Belize legally over 20 years ago, green card and all, and he is still 'waiting' for his case to be 'reviewed' by the ins??-weird, huh?) no-there are people living/residing here, like my friend from Belize, completely legally but waiting for permanent 'legal' residency is ridiculously difficult, even though his family is here--i am using residency loosely, just meaning someone who lives or resides here, regardless of documentation---it seems difficult to come to the U.S. even temporarily, with a very necessary reason-and once here temporarily, it seems like we don't want to trust anyone with permanent 'residency' because they weren't born here-yet how often are we hearing about the atrocities 'legal' citizens are committing against each other? i agree with the need for boundaries, regulations and legal documentation of identity, but aren't we being a little racist in some cases? We have laws on the books that are not being implemented --Any one found to in the country illegally should be deported and any company who hires undocumented aliens should be fined and serve jail time --This has become a very serious problem and we need to focus our attention on it because of the economic drain on social security system and the welfare system Undocumented residency? Is this the same as an invader? You are either here legally or you are here illegally. I don't see much of a gray area between them. |
