If we were to shift to socialized health care, would our paychecks increase? |
If part or your overall benefit package is the money that your employer pays on your behalf for health insurance, would you recieve that amount as additional pay if the US adopts national health insurance? Not at all. Yes for some. No for others. No, they would actually decrease. If you take your gross salary today as including your benefits, that will stay the same. If you make 40K and get 4k in benefits you make 44k. If 2K is from your employer, you will most likely be paying 2K more in taxes to cover the healthcare leavin your takehome the same. The government can not make money, it can only print it. NO. Cost will actually increase is the Government takes over healthcare. Just look at AMtrak, medicare, medicade. These programs are costing us billions every year because the government is inefficient. They do not worry about cutting costs like a private business would. Just look at the recent drug prescription plan the congress and the president enacted a few years back. It was AGAINST THE LAW for the government to bargain with the drug companies to get lower prices. How foolish is that?? I doubt we would shift to socialized health care. However, it would depend on HOW it was implemented what affect it would have on paychecks. There's a tremendous amount of variety among the countries that have universal coverage programs. depends how much you make, lower class no. Unless we went to a system like the swiss have, where everyone pays a flat rate, insurance is required, and insurance companies can only make $ on additional packages. You are under the false impression that your employer will not have to pay for socialized medicine.
No, you would see a very drastic reduction in your paycheck along with health care services too,. If you would like to see what type of care you would receive go visit a V.A. hospital. To me it's not worth the increase no matter how big it is. Haha Yeah right |
