Canada vs. US Health care???

I know the basis of both systems, but I'm looking for people with direct experience (doctors or people that had specific problems). What have been your experiences? In Canada, do people still get turned down for surgeries? Do people have to wait long periods of time for tests and does that effect their overall health? In America, do insurance companies really have more say in the health decisions than the doctors? I know Im encouraging a little debate, but try to keep the spin minimal. I really just want to know about real life experiences.

i dont know anyone who has ever been turned down in canada, and i dont know of anyone who has had to wait longer than 10 minutes for surgery

"In America, do insurance companies really have more say in the health decisions than the doctors?"

I have heard this many times but from my experience and others in my family this has never been the case. The insurance company paid for any treatment that was needed , they might have complained about the price but in the end they paid.

This only becomes an issue I think with "experimental" treatments
