Can you drive more than one person outside your family if you under the age of 17 in virginia?

If you just recently got your license can you drive more than one person outside your family (in the state of virginia).

I thought i read a rule somewhere that to and from school events it is allowed but im not sure and need to know desperately.

If you answer can you provide proof i.e. a website or link to news article or whatever?

According to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, from obtaining a driver's license until age 18, a driver may only carry one passenger under the age of 18 during the first year he or she holds a driver's license. (No exception is given for family members or events).

If the driver has held a license for one year, but is still under 18, he or she may carry three passengers under the age of 18. (This does not apply to family members).

See also Section 46.2-334.01(B) of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended.

I live in Virginia too =] No you can't. My friend that is 16 can only have one passenger.
