How to obtain copyright rights from work by deceased artist?

Copyright covers an artists work during there life + 70yrs until after they are deceased. If the artist is inbetween living and deceased for more than 70 yrs how does one get copyright permission (especially assuming that family are hard to locate).

Any thoughts on requirements/means to get approval?

Start with the vendor/agent/owner of the current property. Record company, agency, agent

the rights belong to the heirs and/or estate of the deceased artist, unless the artist willed the copyright to another party, which often happens. You would have to contact the heirs, the estate, or other third party beneficiary to license the copyrighted works, or to purchase the copyright.
