Are there any last minute options before my plea agreement hearing?

After a nightmare of court dates, the judge assigned to my case rejected my hope of a psychological program in lieu of incarceration. The offer is 1 year in jail for my grand larceny charge. My family and I are devestated. Is there anything I can do, or tell my lawyer to do, in hopes of a lighter sentence?

Once a plea deal has been made, it has been made. Unless you want to goto trial. I am not sure how much was stolen. Some states Grand larceny is anything over $200.00 other states are anything over $5000.00. The judge may sentence you to a county year 364 days in county jail or a state year (365 days) which would lead you into prison. Chances are, you will probably be paroled in 6 months anyway. I dont know the specifics of the case so I really can't give you any advice related on what to say. But sometimes it is better to goto prison than to be in a county jail. Depending upon your state you may only have to serve 6 months, maybe even less. Due to parole and good behavior. My advice is if you do goto jail or prison is to keep to yourself. Stay away from Gangs, Gambling and Gays. Never trust anyone, but yourself. Dont go haywire on ordering commisary, chances are, it will get stolen. And dont talk about your crime. Its no one's business but your own. Do what the CO's ask you to do. And just read books. Lots and lots of books.
