Can a family member use my gun with my license?, Or their name need to be in there also? If i'm not home.? |
If something happened, and I鈥檓 not home and the use the gun for defense, but their name is not on the license, even that they don鈥檛 have the rite. Can the police do something to my family members if they do so and what? And if they can't use it what can i do to make that be legal. Can i just put their name on my license at the office? Or they need to have their owne license? The family member would have to be over 18 in oder to possess a handgun in most states. The gun does not need to be in posession of the owner. I was recently a victim of a home invasion robbery. In selfdefense, I shot him with a .22 handgun. The thieves were wounded (1) and they got away. I called the sheriff. The handgun was unregistered and belonged to a friend of mine in another town. The ONLY thing that was done was they took the pistol for evidence. They left me at home with my loaded shotgun ( which may be an alternate for you) You don't need a license for a shotgun. As far as making things legal, you will find laws vary from state to state. The Hall of Justice in your state would be able to answer any specifics you will need. I just talked with the Hall of Justice just the other day here in California and they were able to answer ANY questions regarding state gun laws. Always remember it is a good idea for your family members to enroll in a gun safety class prior to operating a firearm. Always remember, the criminal has to be inside the house. If he's outside than you could be facing a possible charge of some kind. GO NRA! The license is ONLY for ownership! It has no bearing on the legality of operation. It depends on the state you live in. You need to ask an attorney that deals with self defense. The opinion of random people on the internet is not a credible source of legal advice. They will not charge you if someone is living with you and they use your gun to defend themself. Im not saying they have the right to carry the gun with them at all times. You can not do that with out a permit. You have to take a class for that. Only one persons name can that gun be licensed to. Don't think license is required to use gun in your home or on your property. My license is for concealed carry and name cannot be added........must complete course. |
