My car was stolen by a family member. I reported it as stolen.? |
The police have not found the car or family member for questioning, however friends have seen the person walking around in town. This tells me he does not have my car any longer, probably gave it to a drug dealer. I am getting a rental car from my insurance, but how long do I have to wait before they will reimburse me for my car, and if found and it is tore up I belive you wait about 3-weeks to a month. Sometimes if the car is in good shape they will just fix the damage. If they do not find if or its totaled they will give you a check. Just remember you do not have to take what they give you. You could argue that your car was worth more and send them ads of similar cars for sale and they value,,,,if you had a stereo, navigation ect let them know too. Ask your insurer. My dear, my car as stolen by a family member, and i reported it to the police, word on the street has it, it was scrapped for parts and crushed, the police are aware of this, I was told by an officer, unless they pull over the car in a traffic stop or some other mishap, kiss my car goodbye. They donot look for car thieves, they wait for them to get caught. Sorry about your car. I had just gotten mine paid off and took off my full coverage and now i drive a 93 chevy cavalier. I paid $300.00 for it. Tough break. Best Wishes to you. Since it's a family member, the insurance company will probably take more time looking into it more carefully making sure it's not a scam. I guess it would help you if the family member who took it has priors for similar offenses. The insurance co. will total it or fix it if found. as long as this family member doesnt live with you u should be alrite some states make u insure anyone living in your household be under your insurance or sign a waiver (Maryland) is one that does this for sure. |
