Fifth Estate? |
Could anyone tell me who thought of this idea of the fifth estate first? You know the hiearchy of rule (the fifth being the media)... I want to buy the original text and read through it it sounds interesting. Ooops... Ya I really got this wrong, I actually meant the fourth estate... So who was the first to label the fourth estate and what are the preceeding layers (the third, second and first; what are they referring to)? The media is actually the fourth estate. What is the fifth estate appears unclear when I googled it. It has a meaning that applied to medieval times and a meaning in Canada that is different from that in the U.S. I always hate to do this, but you'd better google it and see if you can find which fifth estate you're referring to. Some say the 5th estate in the United States is bloggers. You need to check this out on-line. It is unclear who or what the 5th estate is. |
