Why did I have to post a bond in Tenn. after my fathers death,now im an executor..?


my dad had no will deid 30 days ago i saw his lawywer 10 days after and now we started probate the estate is worth aprox120,000. there are 3 heirs all in agree ment i had to post an 800$ bond why and will i get it back? I need advice, ive been payin all my dads bills and keepin recitps and have to drive to tenn to do anything. ive pd 4000,00 so far

Intestate probate; the administrator posts a performance bond in some cases; if there are no problems you will get it back. YOu have to be able to account for his assets, pay all outstanding bills and help with distribution of the remaining funds when probate closes the account/estate.

Give the probate court a call; they have literature they can send or help you download to answer a bunch of questions
