What is "life estate"? I need to learn about Florida estate laws? |
what does it mean when someone has "life estate" in a house? Do they have to live there to maintain their status? A life estate is the right to reside in the house and use it as one's own for one's life. Unless there is a provision that the life estate ends if the person moves out or is not likely to return from a hospital or long term care facility, it only ends on the death of the oerson retaining the life estate. State statutes may define it diffferently, so you will have to look up any relevant stature. |
