Lawyer will not paid us back?

When my grandmother passed in 2005 my dad hired a lawyer who charged him $1000 up font to settle the estate, the lawyer did very little and never returned are calls. About 9 months later my dad passed away. We went to a different lawyer that helped us settled the estates. We also wanted to get our money back from the bad lawyer. We went and filed a complaint threw our local bar association, and to the Supreme Court. We had a hearing with the bar association and before the hearing my mom and the bad lawyer signed a paper saying that the findings of the hearing were legal and binding. They awarded us $750 but that was in February of this year, we have never gotten any money. We called and written letters to the lawyers at the hearing but no one will help us, we even sent a letter to the president of the bar association and nothing. My mom paid an extra $100 to turn the judgment I believe into an order. He still will not pay us and the other lawyer that helped with the estates won鈥檛 help us anymore because he isn鈥檛 getting any money out of it. My question is who else can we go to? That will actually do something that will actually help us!!!

I hope your mom didn't pay an extra $100 for that! A judgment and an order are the same thing. I would wait a little while longer. February was not that long ago. And to be honest, you may not get any money. People take people to court all the time. You can win, but it doesn't mean you will get what you were awarded.

Take him to small claims court.

take the order from the court and go to your local police station (or you can get a Court clerk to assign you collector) and you both can visit the lawyer's office in person. There, you deman that they pay you the amount owed.

collections on an order, becomes your problem unfortunately. so you must make every initiative to collect it on your own.

Get a garnishment.

It's for citizens who can't seem to get issues with attorneys,doctors,contractors,retailers and many more resolved and they do believe me I know.
