I need help in ther area of estate law....?

My aunt died within the last year. A month or so ago the estate was settled. My father signed a few documents and then received a check for under $200. We got a letter from the lawyer today saying that someone has made a claim against the estate and that he may have to recall the checks. Can he do this? I know it wasnt much but we used it to pay bills. What happens if we cant pay it back? Some legal advice would be great along with referrence to actual laws I can print off. Thanks!!

I am in the usa.

each country has a different laws. you forgot to mention yours, now for your accurate references type to the search bar your country then estate law. ex usa estate law.

then from then on you can choose whatever fit for your question.

God Bless!
