I want to contest a will? |
Do the laws in Texas dictate that parents' estates must be equally divided amongst their children/surviving grandchildren? Can I contest the will because my dad states he wants us to divide the value of their estate over a course of five years? He does not realize how stupid that is as it will be taxed like hell. Is that sufficient grounds to contest it? Sorry, but I doubt it. Generally, a person can do whatever they want to do with their money in a will. Just because you are related to your parents does not mean that you or anyone has the right to dictate these choices. The fact that your dad had a specific plan in mind which may create a greater tax burden, or the fact that you think his plan is stupid, is not a proper basis for a contest. |
