How long does it take for an estate to be settled?

O.K. My step mother in law died back in March in Canada and left my husband 2 per cent of the estate (don't ask!). I am just wondering when he is going to receive his share or whether we will have to go to court to fight for it.

How long is a piece of string?

Sorry, but there's no answer to your question. Some simple estates are closed in a few months, some drag on for decades.

Have you asked the executor what the status is ?

Richard

I had a relative die in Canada in late 2005. I received my portion about 18 months later.

settlement of the cases depend upon the situation but i am sure you will get the mentioned share within next 12 months.pl. inform me.
