I need help about a lawyer who will not release estate funds!!?

HELP! I need advice! My ex husband died in Washington state August, 2005. We have two children through that marriage (I now live in NC). I am still very close to his mom, and she has informed me the attorney that is handling the sale of his house/estate (his house sold Oct. 2005) won't release any of the funds to go into a trust account for our children AND they are having my mother-in-law pay for expenses such as the funeral out of her pocket and WILL NOT reimburse her! Each time she calls the paralegal tells her 'it will be taken care of in two weeks'. It has been 2 years and 5 months since he passed--this is tearing his mom up to have to still be dealing with this nonsense! She wants to move on the best she can and the attorney is doing something I just don't think is kosher. Does anyone have ANY advice for me? What can I do from my end? I have called the attorney's office today and left a voice mail and I am waiting for them to call back. ANY advice will be appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks so much 50/50 for the link--I just want to get my ducks in a row and see what my options are before I talk to them. I appreciate everyone's responses!

Notify the bar association for the state of Washington. I have provided a link below.

First wait until they call you back. Ask them what the status is & why the estate is taking so long to close. Then when you have more information, come back & ask your question.

Call the bar assoication in the town and see how to file a complaint for theft of funds. Should get some action.
