Should I ask for permission to Greenpeace if I want to do an environmental campaign in my school?

I have been selected as an Environmental Ambassador in my school and I intend to make July as "Antigarbage Month", meaning I will put up some pamphlets and posters encouraging others to be aware of the danger of garbage. Should I ask for a permission to Greenpeace if I want to attach their logo in my poster? How?

I have visited their official web last week and have received no reply. You know, I just need their logo to make my poster looks more... more official and powerful... You know what i mean?

Greenpeace International's logo is trademarked from the office in Amsterdam: Ottho Heldringstraat 5, 1066 AZ Amsterdam, The Netherlands

This means you normally (but not in this case as you will find out below) would have to ask permission to use it because otherwise you will be passing off your products as theirs.

You would otherwise be able to use the logo with proviso that "Greenpeace do not endorse this campaign" to dissassociate yourself from greenpeace. And as some of the others have mentioned, it is only courteous.

HAVING SAID THAT HOWEVER:
See this link:
http://www.greenpeace.org/international/...

Greenpeace have clearly made their logo available to all, so you can use the logos on this page without asking permission, to help your campaign. This page constitutes an implied licence to users to be able to use the Greenpeace logo without having to ask for permission.

Also you aren't really damaging their economic goodwill and reputation, so you can use it. How one "uses" trademarks is very important in the law (Trade Marks Act 1994).

OTHER THINGS YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO:
Contact some of the email addresses on this page: http://www.greenpeace.org/international/...

or the contacts page and let them know about your campaign for a garbage Month? It might be a really good idea the team like and they will ask other schools to do something similar.

You don't have to, but it might be courteous to ask them. Besides, they might give you some other resources that could be useful. Go on their website and find the contact info for the local chapter in your area.

Whenever you intend to use a logo, a poster, literature, or the faces of known spokespersons in your own campaign, program, or presentation, you must have permission and you should give written credit. Unless Greenpeace is the only supplier of this information and these materials, you could go with a different ecologically-associated group, and get THEIR permission. If you create all the materials yourself, you don't need anyone's permission. Make sure you do NOT misrepresent what that supporting organization represents: it's too easy to fall into the trap of saying Greenpeace supports (whatever) when you don't know!

What you want to do is positive, GO AHEAD. There is no law anymore, so X DO IT.

I can't add anything to the excellent answers above really, except to say that I think Greenpeace should, and probably will, be very pleased that your using their logo for your campaign.

As a contributer to Greenpeace myself, I certainly am.

You have asked if they have not replied then use it & Good Luck
