What are my rights when sold goods unfit for human consumption by a multi-million pound organisation (Tesco).

I bought a multi pack of crisps from Tesco, 3 of the bags were filled with green and turquoise damp mouldy crisps. I took them back to the shop, I was given a replacement pack, the mouldy crisps were taken from me and I was asked for my address and told Tesco would be in touch. A couple of weeks later I got a letter from the manufacturer 'explaining' that some moisture may have got into the bags, causing the mould. This apparently is the end of it ! I am astounded that I have not been offered some kind of recompense for such a serious complaint.
Can I take it further even though I now longer have the product ? I wish I'd held on to them and contacted Environmental health etc.

That's digusting ! I do think they should do more than apologise, I got 拢20 from one of the big supermarkets when I found a little bit of plastic in a frozen meal. Maybe a voucher to at least cover your expenses ? Good job no-one ate them ! I wouldn't expect much more than that from them.

You got your product replaced. What more do you want?

Well to be honest its not really crime of the century is it ?? Sounds like a valid reason has been given and they did replace the crisps. Admitted they could have given you a bit extra by way of vouchers or something as a good will gesture but ho-hum - just put it down to experience. If they gave everyone massive amounts of cash in compensation the cost of food would go sky high. Just be thankful you didnt eat them and get sick xxx

they replaced the item, what more do you want.
Do honestly think you deserve some kind of compensation other than Wat you have already received

What sort of recompense are you after ? you got the crisps that you paid for and your not out of pocket. Some people today want something for nothing !

For a poxy bag of crisps ? Are you sure you're not getting carried away ? Also, who do you sue ? Tesco or the manufacturer ?

i dont understand what exactly were you looking for?
money?
Tesco did as all food companys would. they replaced your product, looked into the situation and responded to you.
what more can they do?
its not like you eat them and got sick!
what more do you want?

What do you want?

Loss of earnings?

Mental cruelty?

FFS.. Grow up.. You got a new packet of crisps and an apology..

Litigation culture much?

My husband bit on something he found in a Tesco Finest beefburger and broke a wisdom tooth (it hurt a lot and he had to have some teeth out). - we held on to what we found, contacted Environmental Health and also a personal injury lawyer who told us we would be looking at at least 拢5k in compensation.

We didn't pursue it in the end because there was doubt as to if that was ever actually in the burger after all (long story). But yep, as far as they are concerned they have dealt with your complaint and replaced the product. If it ever happens again keep the product, and get onto Environmental Health. I think this case is over though to be honest.

What are you after..... Blood ???

You got the crisps replaced.... probably no questions asked, and an apology from Tesco. The manufacturer took the time to write to you, explained the probable cause and probably offered you a sincere apology too.

What exactly are you after ???

oh deary me what is the world coming to !

Why do you need compensation?. I presume you weren't ill or anything as surely nobody would actually eat mouldy crisps.

You're kidding, right?

Maybe you could claim compensation next time your video fails to tape the end of a programme because the previous one overran?

You got a replacement, forget about it and worry about the more important things in life!

Well Tesco can't be responible because they can not open every individual packet of crisps to check the packet's quality, before placing it on sale.

Your complaint solely lies with the manufacturer, as it either looks like that there a quality problem with the crisps within the packaging, or with the packaging itself.

On top of getting your cisps exchanged with Tesco, I would seriously consider writing to the manufacturer themselves and state to them that you are unhappy with the quality, and that you are going to take the matter to environmental health.
