My rights as a renter. Heat pump not working efficiently.?

I rent a condo which has electric heating. My electric bill in the winter was exorbitent. I got the heat pump checked and it works at 1/3rd efficiency. My landlords are reluctent to get to replaced or even fixed. They say say are obligated to provide a working system but are under no legal obligation to provide an efficient system. It appears they might have checked with their attorney. However, I want to confirm that their claim is in fact true, especially considering the environmental impact of using such an inefficient system.

Laws usually vary by location, but I suspect your landlord is legally correct.

He's right. You have the freedom to move.

It's true what he is saying but unethical.

Hopefully, you won't renew your lease and move from their. I wouldn't want to have a landlord like that.

He's right - is what he's doing ethical or moral - nope, but he's within the law. A tweaky bit of a slumlord.
