One law for them? |
I was watching the Wright Show this morning when the Crimewatch hunk Rab (whatever his second name is!)appeared on the screen, apparently he has left the London met and is now concentrating on a tv career but has the option that if Holywood doesnt beckon and he doesnt get Bafta's and Oscars he can return to the police job he has left!!Can any other civil servant pick and choose like this?Whilst he comes across as a decent guy,I cant help but feel there is something wrong here as he is only a young fellow who's career will hardly have begun,is this typical of the so called dedicated professional policemen of the UK to leave the job for a career in the entertainment industry, how many other workers can go back to their former career if their new one doesn't work out?Just curious, any answers? Allen, the gentleman I mentioned stated categorically that he could return to the met within 5 years of leaving it! Hello,,I understand what you say,,here in America,,we have Hollywood stars that use(used)their popularity to get elected into very important positions. Whether the stars have any brains or not has not been an issue. Heck one of them isn't even a natural citizen,,sounds like some Hitler youth,,but still the weirdos in California voted him in,,porn capitol of the world,,but who really cares,,when he gets done screwing them,,he can make more "terminal" movies,,the cop you mentioned is just paving the way to some top political job,,there are some strange political agendas going on in this world,,and most have no intention of helping the people ,,it's just big money scams, and making money to escape from the people that elected them there. Why shouldn't he be able to go back to his job if it doesn't work out? Granted, there are not many employers who would do this, but many people take career breaks, time out, etc, and their jobs are left open. You can take a leave of absence from the police. Your pension rights and pay are frozen. Usually it's for a year to get some experience abroad. He cannot return to the force after a one years absent. No matter how good he was. |
