New to the legal world...please help!!?

So I recently graduated from college and have been considering law school for quite a while. I decided that I wanted to take a few years off before college and gain some actual legal experience prior to entering law school. I am interested in entertainment law/intellectual property, however I found an entry-level job willing to train legal secretaries (however it is a litigation firm). I have no prior experience in paralegal work, and am wondering if this job will be over my head. They said they are willing to train, however I'm not sure if I need to go to school to become a legal secretary. Should I take this job? Or would an internship be better for a recent college grad like me? Which ones do firms usually prefer (I would be cheap labor). Thank you for your help!!!

Legal secretary work is not the same as paralegal work. But it will give you an incredible amount of experience. And if they said that they were willing to train you for that position, you probably won't need to go back to school for a little bit.

My legal career started when I was 18 and still in college. I started as a file clerk... then I was a receptionist... then I was a secretary. Now I have a degree in paralegal studies and I am a paralegal. I'm thinking about going to law school... but I'm not sure yet.

So I would definitely take the job! Its a great way to find out if the field is for you or not.

Having just got out of college you would want a job related to your field. Being a paralegal would sufice although its often a thankless job much that of a legal secretary but can be rewarding and helpful in your overall objective. Participating as a training paralegal will give you several insites of the daily activities of court precedings and case flow juggling.
