Why the Vivid Entertainment can sell the Jimi Hendrix sex tape?

i mean,
isn't it the copyright belong to Jimi Hendrix himself?

Hendrix is dead, but his estate should have a say in the matter. If there actually is a copyright on the movie, the copyright belongs to the person who made the movie, which may or may not be Hendrix.

However, the movie (if there really is one) would have been made nearly 40 years ago-most likely on 8mm home movie camera (very poor quality) but probably done with his consent. I doubt if the actual film is longer than 15 or 30 minutes.

To be perfectly honest, porn of past does not sell that well. Sure there might be some music historians and rabid fans that will purchase a copy; but anybody expecting something like modern day porn will be greatly disappointed. I think Vivid is doing it for the publicity and will actually loose money on this title (with the hopes of gaining new customers buying their other titles).
