Entertainment Court Award?

what is the maximum award entertainment judges (Judge Judy, Judge Christine....) are allowed to reward. And, by which state statute do they rule. I would think there would be a conflict if the judge if the judge's court was in one state and the conflict between the plaintiff and defendant was in another state.

I believe the amount is governed by the contract the parties enter. The court shows are just that shows. The actor or actress may be a real judge or have been a real judge, but on tv they are acting.

So the contract may be based on a particular state code, but I don't think it really matters. Typically these are minor what we call limited actions. In some states that would be a case involving damages that do not exceed $1800.00.
