Can entertainment establishments such as a concert hall legally prevent you from taking in bottles of water? |
I am going to a concert at a venue that is known to be a concert hall rather than a bar that has live performances. I want to take in a bottle of water but my friends say the place will prevent me from doing so. Can the concert hall legally prevent me from taking in my own water bottle? I just don't want to have to pay 8 dollars for bottled water. Surely this is illegal practice to force me to buy their own? Any place of business at any time reserves the right to refuse service to any of it's patrons. Legally all they can do is not allow you in with the water. They can't confiscate it against your will, if you voluntarily give it up, after they request it and inform you that it isn't permissible to have going in, that's the end of that. If you won't they can't hold you down and take it from you, but they can say you can't go in. Yes its legal. They make lots of money by charging you $8 for a bottole of water and other food, if everyone brought in there own food, they won't make as much money. You just have to deal with it. Perfectly legal and practiced at most venues. The money doesn't come from ticket sales as much as concessions. If they have a "no food or drink" policy and it is clearly stated, then they can confiscate whatever you have. |
