Guns and america, you idiots?

im from australia,where guns are illegal for the most part. this makes logical sense, we cant walk down to the local kmart and buy a rifle. there is no good reason to have guns, home protection? if the villian doesnt have a gun why do you? that gun can be used for home protection then that same gun can be used in an armed robbery. you right to own a gun? thats just idiotic. too shoot innocent animals? entertainment? you find shooting animals entertainment? the law enforcement are the only people who should have guns, too quickly apprehend suspects.

hahah i know my grammer is a bit bad, its 5am and my keyboards playing up, yes i noticed the to and too just before i submitted it but i was to (too(two)) lazy to change it. australia has murderers (obviously) but im willing to bet $50 that the rate in which a gun is used for murder is much lower. what would you rather be threatened with? a knife or a shotgun to the face? yes, because they kill animals with rifles in factories dont they? they kill them humanly, dipping the chickens into a electric bath which kills them instantly unlike a bullet to the leg, much pain. in america a would be murderer can walk down to walmart and pick out a nice lovely weapon, slamming down the front door , giving no time for the victim to get his weapon unless its under his bed (if hes sleeping) i could go on for hours so ill leave it until someone makes another comment i must dispute, agree with. the only logical reason is the historical reasons people gave.

I, personally, hate guns. I truly wish they would outlaw them.
Our 'gun' facination goes all the way back to when our ancestors came here from other countries (they did not bring guns with them). Our ancestors did not understand the 'indians' and their ways, therefore, they felt they needed guns for protection against the 'savages'. By the way, the Indians only acted this way because of the booze the 'white man' gave them (not that their peyote didn't already serve it's purpose of a hallucinogen). Anyway, we felt we needed protection so someone saw a great market for guns - made tons of them and then everyone began using guns for almost any and every reason. Also, during this time - farmers used the rifle to obtain meat for their family to eat. After we passed through our 'western' era, the next group of people who felt they needed guns were the military and gangsters/mobs - but most of this was accomplished with machine guns.
I can understand the military and law enforcement having guns but no one else. It seems the more politicians attempt to address the issue of guns (controlling them) the more show up on the streets and into the wrong hands.
We no longer have to hunt for food - we just go to our nearest grocery store, therefore, the necessity no longer exists.
Why we still have them - I don't know and I truly wish they were illegal.

The right to own guns is part of the American constitution and it's not something that we would give up easily.

I think one answer to this question lies in the history of America. When we rebelled back in 1775, one of the reasons was because the crown attempted to take this right away. That's why it's the second bill of right - it was an important issue back then because it was actually threatened. That is the key - the RIGHT to bear arms is a RIGHT (just like habeus corpus, free speech, etc). I think your question is rather loaded (no pun intended) but I hope you take the time to read my response.

The truth is, if you outlaw guns then only outlaws will carry guns, but if they're legal, outlaws will always have to worry if the person they are messin with owns a gun too.

We use guns for many reasons like hunting game (which we eat and do not waste). It is my constitutional right to protect myself and I do have a gun in my house, and I don't care if the villain doesn't have a gun, if he has broken into my house, I will shoot him and ask questions later. Yes, law enforcement should be the only group to carry guns, but let's face reality, the bad guys have guns too.

But I agree with you, it appears that stricter gun laws are working better for Australia, the UK (where I am originally from) and most of Europe. These countries have a lower violent crime rate per capita than the US, however, this could be the result of other factors rather than the guns. Who knows!

Do you really believe that by banning citizens from having guns really keeps guns out of criminals hands? Drugs are very illegal in America and probably in your country to, yet they are still everywhere. They are banned but yet still fairly easy to come by for those who want them. If guns were outlawed in the US criminals would still get them and use them just as easily. By banning guns you are only taking them away from law abiding citizens. Guns are also useful for hunting. You obviously know nothing about hunting or its traditions and uses because if you did you would not be making your self look like an idiot. Hunting is the most effective wildlife management tool there is and if it was not there our government would have to spend billions more to control some animal species. Hunting also contributes billions to the US economy every year. You should really try to understand a different perspective before going off like a moron and making your self look stupid.

It's tradition,that's how we got out of the empire,and created our own, fear of government, our own and everyone Else's and it's in the books (laws), I've always had one, learned how to shoot, gun safety etc from the time I was 5 years old, my daughters know how now too. As long as the things are made, criminals will have them, they don't care if they're against the law, so long as they do, so will I. Law or no. I haven't had to kill anyone, yet. As you stated you have crime in australia and guns are illegal, what's your point? Apparently criminals are criminals. Outlawing guns just means people will find alternative methods to commit crime.

Additionally, if you spent a bit more time studying US history you might have a better understanding as to why our constituion grants our citizens to keep and bear arms.
