Wife got fired from job in georgia because of mistaken identity. Is there anything we can do? |
My wife just started working for this toddler entertainment center a week ago. An email came to the company stating that the women working the snack stand had a bad attitude. Both she and another girl were working the snack stand the same day. When my wife got the call from the job stating that they received complaints and that she was fired she asked if they described her in the email. The manager said "sort of". The other women who was also at the snack stand still has her job. They are both dark skinned with long hair and all wear the same uniform. If this fair? Should they do some sort of investagation for both women before firing since they both were working the same position that day? What should my wife do? While Georgia IS an employment at will State they do have to give a reason for firing you even though it can be for almost any non protected reason. Also they have to have written evidence of the reason they are firing you, such as write ups etc. She should Consult first the department of Labor, then Consult the EEOC which is Located in Atlanta in Georgia. Georgia is an employment at will State. They can fire her for no reason at all. Sounds like a crappy job anyway, go find a better job. She could see an attorney for unfair termination (since it wasn't certain who it was) and possibly end up getting a settlement out of it. Learn from it and move on. Sort of means they wanted to get rid of her anyway. You could take issue but it will get you nowhere. |
