What is the age limit in the midwest to be left home alone for a few days? |
I am 15 years old and am certainly mature enough to take care of myself for a few days, my parents also believe so and I just hate staying with people when they are away. I have communication access to anyone including them, 24/7. But, my parents say that somebody could call child services and I would be taken away from them, I know this is true but neither of us know the specific age limit. What is the legal age limit that would be legal to be left to stay home alone for a few days if left with proper arrangements, food, heat, entertainment, etc.? To be a little clearer; I meant overnight too, not just during the daytime. Most states don't have an official age limit. It's up to your parents, who know your maturity level better than anyone else. Child services would not take you away unless you were in danger. If you were just staying on your own, child services couldn't do anything, although if someone complained they might drop by and check to make sure you were safe. call social services and ask you wouldn't be taken away, and even if you were, you would be returned to your parents when they returned. Probably around 12 or 13 but you should call social services something like that and ask It depends on the state in which you live in, and most states do not have an "age" limit when it comes to that. Call your local PD, or DHS and ask them. |
