How does Hollywood get around child labor laws as to hours per day of work allowed for young children...?

...seeing as I'm sure that the young kid stars are working many hours per day during movie shoots. Even if they are majorly paid.

This is not an attack on Hollywood. I'm just wondering what loopholes they need to get their child stars working. This would be a necessary thing for all of our entertainment.

The laws are pretty strict, and both the SAG and the CA DoL have observers on set to make sure they are obeyed.

One trick.... a friend of my wife has identical twin boys. They do quite a lot of acting (They're not stars - we're talking moslty commercials here) and will both play the same character, so if it takes, say, 4 hours to get it shot, they'll each work 2 hours.

Most pairs of identical twins in Hollywood keep busy for this reason.

They don't. Production companies are required to follow the law and even hire people who are on-set to make sure the laws are complied with. They have to have tutors on-set too, if work interferes with education.

Hollywood loves twins in single roles. you can't tell the difference, but only one of them is on the set at any one time.

i'm sure there are other methods -- shooting seven days a week if the law is phrased in per day and/or in foreign countries with different child labor laws.

lots of the teenage parts are played by adults, too.

They don't. There are persons on every set responsible for child welfare, the rules are followed very strictly. Their working time is documented to the minute to avoid violations.

I don't think Hollywood is part of the USA
anymore. At least they don't act like it.
