Can my ex-partner claim child support if I am in mainland europe, and paying Taxes ie resident there ? |
I have just recently re-located after being made redundant and moved to Brussels and now resident, Can my partner claim child suport from me ? As I pay taxes, and my payroll company are not UK based? and have a dutch contract of employment ? Oh dear, not much help from those two eh! Has she filed for child support yet? and I am assuming she knows where you are!? It depends on whether you want to have any relationship with your child, making sure it is yours in the first place! Try to work something out with her before it gets into the Courts. I don't know why you two split up, that's the problem with partnerships instead of marriages! Who was really to blame for the split, or was it a mutual agreement? If that was the case, she should have thought about the consequences at that time. It's not always the man's fault when things go bad! Check up on child support in Brussels, they could be different than in England. Figure out how much you could possibly pay her for child support, without putting yourself in the poor house, AND! also! how would your company look at you being served with papers of this kind? It could cost you your job! Make her an offer, and see if she will accept it, but go through a solicitor so she can't come back and bite you on the butt! It's ok to say, pay her or else, each case is different! My son willingly paid $600 for one small child a month until SHE decided to disappear off the face of earth against the Courts wishes - the Judge relieved him of the obligation and she has a bench warrant out on her! So you see, all women don't think alike! God Bless and Good luck! I do not care if you are in Timbuktu, you must pay child support. Of course you must pay. I live in England and my childrens father is in the states and he must(and by God WILL) pay child support. Just do your fatherly duty. |
