Will an arrest that resulted in a full dismissal prevent employment? |
got into a fistfight and was charged with assault. Judge dismissed the charge. Have never been arrested or in trouble with the law before. This was in NY. Do I have anything to worry about? The charges were dropped, indeed, but the arrest would still be on your record. You may have to go to court and get it expunged. Legally, no, it should not. And on a resume' or job application, they only ask for CONVICTIONS. You were not convicted of a crime, so unless you are directly asked or want to volunteer the info, it shouldn't even come up. I don't see how it could prevent employment. Keep a copy of the judgement on hand, just in case it comes up in a background check or interview. You should have nothing to worry about. I would think not since the charges were dismissed. |
