At-will employment. do you really then have a job if you can be fired at anytime. read the offer letter.?

i read my offer letter.

at-will, can be terminated, with or without any reason.

do you really have true-job if you can be fired at anytime.

That's the way it works in "right to work" states.

Yes, you do have a true job. Most employers don't bother hiring people with the idea that they want to be able to fire them at anytime. However, at-will employment allows the employer to fire you without a lot of hassle if you don't work out. You know, this works in your favor as well. Your new boss can't sue you for leaving, you can do so with or without any reason.

Yes, you have a real job.

At-will states just mean the you can leave your job at any point, any time for any or no reason.

Your employer can also fire you at any point for any or no reason : Accepting illegal reasons or reasons that violate their own written policies.

You are getting paid aren't you? I'd qualify that as a real job.

The at-will termination clause is an incentive employers use to make sure you [the employee] don't screw things up.

Put yourselves in their shoes. Your employee just burned down your businesses. Your employee just pissed off your best customer. Your employee would rather stare at the ceiling than do work. Do you want to have the right to fire his *** without any "if, ands or buts"?

I've worked that kind of job all my career. It is a challenge
to make yourself so valuable, you get included in every
makeover. Study, be cordial, volunteer and want to work, you'll stay employed.

ps- it works the same way for you, if you aren't comfortable
hit the door and look some more!

There are a vast amount of at-will employers these days. If you have no contract, you can be terminated at any time, for any reason (except for discriminatory situations, like race, religion, etc.)

Millions of Americans "have jobs" like this.

Vote Union-Yes!

Employment at will is the norm in most places in America.

(And for the poster above, "Employment at will" and "right to work" are two TOTALLY different things. "Right to work" means that your boss cannot force you to join a union.)

Richard

duh, if you got hired then u have a job, if you ever worked b4 then chances are you have been an at will employee, nothing new.

You have a job for as long as your employer says you have that job or you quit.
