How does un-employment work in Massachusetts?

I am a 20 year old college student and I was working for a chain resturant making $10 an hour and they just stopped giving me hours and when I ould ask them why I was no longer on the scedual they just said they had no hours to give me. The next week I went in too see if I was on the scedual and they had hired 2 new people to do the same job I was doing one was the managers daughter and the other was a current employees younger sister. Is there a law againt that? They never fired me and they never told me I was doing anyhting wrong... Can I collect un-employment?

Doubtful. Talk to the unemployment office.

I would say they hired the other two people at a lesser wage, depending how long you were at this job I'd say would determine rather you can collect un-employment from them.. I've searched some links for you to look in to.. hope this helps and best of luck!

Yes you can file, but I would suggest you learn to spell better before you submit your request.

go get another job you lazy hippie

You have to be laid off in order to collect umemployment. I would call the restaurant or go back and ask them what your job status is. Ask them are you laid off and if so what is the reason. If you can get it in writing that would be best. Once you get the determination of whether or not you are still employed there than you can file for umemployment. If the keep telling you they just don't have the hours then I would assume that you are out of a job.
