Pre-employment hospital background check?

I have an interview tomorrow at a hospital for a secretary position and I had to sign a letter giving them permission to do a background check. What will they look for? Do hospitals check for certain things? I don't have good credit and I am worried that I will not get the job becuase of it.

The only person who can tell you, for sure, what will be done on the background is the hospital or the person conducting the background check. If you are handling money as part of your job, then they'll probably run a credit report.

That being said, hospitals do normally look at criminal records and check to see if employees are on the OIG list. Furthermore, a pre-employment credit report WILL NOT have a FICA score as it is illegal to use a score when determining credit.

When all is said and done, you have a legal right to get a copy of the report ran on you. Make sure you do so in order to address any concerns that may show up.

They will look for any wrong doings associated with the medical profession. They are not doing a credit check.
